These breathtaking specimens can be found ONLY around Madura Island in Indonesia and are actually the fossilized palate of ancient wrasse (an ancient reef dwelling fish). In their fossilized raw form, they are brown hues with debossed circular patterns - after polishing they take on a silvery hue, showcasing a truly gorgeous snake skin like appearance.
They are really (perhaps extremely) rare due to the limited amount of fossils in this specific region - this being the reason why it is only polished and made into cabs that are quite small in size as it’s extremely difficult to find a fully intact fossilized raw piece. It’s beauty is truly awe-inducing with a lot of skill and care taken by the artisans who produce the finished cabs.
Although small, they make excellent statement pieces, especially for jewelry and accessories - time to showcase them for all to see.
